God's Grace

One of my reasons for hope is God's amazing, overwhelming grace. We sing the hymn Amazing Grace often and it's one of my favorite reminders of God's free and awesome grace. I know I don't deserve it or have earned it - by faith He simply grants it. Wow!

Powerful right? Grace can do many things, empowering us to be generous, wise, and even righteous. The greatest blessing God's grace provides, however, is our very salvation. Listen to early church leader Paul's words in Ephesians 2:

4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
-English Standard Version

So much richness in blessing - immeasurable riches all ours by faith in Messiah Jesus!

Amazing grace indeed!

PS One more thought on grace - it puts our worship back to the rightful person! As Paul David Tripp wrote, "...sin kidnapped our worship, and grace works to restore it to its rightful owner - God. It is only when God is in His rightful place in our hearts that everything else is in its appropriate place in our lives, and only powerful grace can accomplish this."
